Great Job CFVP

Mike e

Well the first Sectional WOD is in the books. Perhaps we should have a "burpee free" week. That was a tough opening workout. We had a huge turnout Saturday. Many members came out to do it a second time as well. Team CFVP has 34 members...many of them new athletes. We had MANY scores over 100 and in the 90's. That is very impressive. We are very proud to have such a strong representation of our gym. We applaud everyone for your efforts and support. We hope you're having as much fun as we are.

Team CFVP stands in 30th place (note: the ranking is currently changing as the leaderboard is finalized) in the North Central Region. This is out of 130 total teams. Remember the top 30 earn a spot at the North Central Regional. We'd like to pass on a few special performance notes.

  • The top 3 male and female scores make up your team score. Our top 6 were Margaret Junker (120), Melissa Hurley (116), Stephanie Teague (102), Louis Clough (113), Sebastian Perez (112), and Stephen Cooper (110). Awesome job.
  • The 50-55 Masters Division has 754 athletes! Neil Zimmerman is among an incredibly touch field and sits at 161. That is great Neil. Keep up the hard work.

Yay Burpees!!!

Marge

Steph Burpee 2

Yeah, Margaret kinda sums it up with our reaction to the 1st 2012 CrossFit Games Open WOD. There's not a whole lot to this one. You have 7 minutes to complete as many burpees as possible. Here is a summary of the workout standards. Good luck everyone.

  • You must start in a standing position.
  • You must reach the ground with hips and chest touching the ground.
  • You must jump to a target that is no less than 6 inches above your reach at full extension.
  • The target must be touched with both hands.
  • If you miss the touch, you can simply jump and touch again for the rep to count.

"The Early Morning Crew Hard at Work"

2012 CROSSFIT GAMES SECTIONALS: You will see a logo link on the top right hand side of our page. This is to register for any or all of the 5 week hosted events. Each week, starting on February 22nd, they will announce the workout. Each Saturday, one gym in the St. Louis area will host it. This simply provides a competitive atmosphere for you to compete. If you register for a day, you MUST attend or call the gym owner to cancel. They will be putting alot of work into planning the day and will need to know how many people are showing up. Remember CFVP will be a registered affiliate so you can perform here and have your score validated. We will have a set day/time each week where you can come in. Again, ANYONE can perform the workouts and we will let you modify as needed.

SATURDAYS: Saturdays, including this week, will now be Metcon workouts only. We will warm up and go. These will be longer efforts and occasionally, a CrossFit Hero WOD. Remember what is required of longer efforts. You need to be smart and pay attention to breakdowns in form. You should be well rested and plan for rest the next day. Post workout nutrition is also very important. Enjoy!
